Our Provide First Aid course gives you the practical skills and confidence to respond to common workplace and everyday emergencies. You’ll learn how to recognise and respond to a range of injuries and illnesses, including CPR and the use of an AED. We combine flexible online learning with practical, hands-on training and a face-to-face assessment, giving you the flexibility to complete the theory in your own time while developing the practical skills and confidence to respond when it matters.

Detailed Course Information
Our HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to recognise emergencies and provide immediate, effective first aid treatment for sudden illness or injury.
The course covers essential first aid skills including casualty assessment, CPR, AED use, anaphylaxis and asthma management, choking, bleeding and shock, and appropriate responses to fractures, sprains, strains, dislocations and envenomation.
You’ll also learn about the chain of survival, differences in CPR for adults, children and infants, accessing emergency services, reporting incidents and recognising the potential psychological impacts of providing first aid.

The following units will be included in your certificate:
HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.
Refresher face-to-face contact time of at least 6 Hours
Blended face-to-face contact time of at least 6 Hours
Face-to-Face face-to-face contact time of at least 7 Hours 30 Mins
Online with face-to-face assessment face-to-face contact time of at least 1 Hour

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
An official form of photo identification (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, or student ID).
Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including CPR *
To successfully complete this course, students will need to demonstrate the following language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills during training and assessment:
Learning: Follow instructions, ask for help, and learn from feedback.
Reading: Read short texts like signs and step-by-step instructions.
Writing: Write short notes or fill out a simple form.
Oral communication: Listen carefully and speak clearly in a classroom environment.
Numeracy: Count and use simple numbers.
Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
*Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
Online learning: Students must have basic digital literacy skills to navigate online platforms, complete assessments, and access course materials. Before enrolment, students should assess their ability to engage in online learning. Support is available where required. The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and associated assessment tasks.
Delivery mode: Online with face-to-face - The online pre-course learning and theory assessment is expected to take approximately 5.5 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the online component in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and theory questions.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 36 months.

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
Perform CPR on an infant
Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
Manage a casualty with asthma
Manage a choking casualty
Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and requiring minor wound cleaning
Manage a casualty with shock
Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
Documentation – The student must complete all documentation according to the required standard:
Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
